Silicone Wristbands Are Great for Promoting Your Unique Message

Silicone wristbands have become an everyday part of pop culture in less than a decade. Whether it’s to advance social causes, seek a job, raise funds, broadcast one’s political leanings or just for fun, wristbands are a versatile way to promote just about any idea under the sun.

The silicone wristband is easily customizable, it’s inexpensive both to buy and sell, and it’s portable. Wristbands made of 100 percent medical grade silicone can be produced in many colors, fonts and styles to make a unique statement. Basically, once someone slides a silicone wristband onto their arm, it’s a miniature billboard, announcing to the world something that the wearer thinks is important. They’re an outstanding marketing tool for many purposes.

The silicone wristband’s popularity dates back to 2004, the year professional cyclist Lance Armstrong and Nike introduced the now-classic yellow “Livestrong” wristband. The simple yellow debossed wristbands selling for only $1 each, have since raised millions of dollars for cancer research.

The basic debossed wristband, the same style as the “Livestrong” band, presses the lettering into the wristband for a clean, uncluttered look. Within months of the yellow wristband’s introduction, it became a worldwide sensation, first worn by professional athletes and later by what seemed like the whole world.

Other organizations, seeing the success of the yellow wristband, quickly developed their own custom wristbands, each in a different color and with a specific message of their own. Before long, many different worthwhile causes came to be represented by the same color, creating some confusion among those who see wristbands on someone else’s wrist as to what they stand for. When in doubt, it’s always best to ask the wearer. That gives them a chance to explain what they believe in and why, and offer additional details.

Debossed painted wristbands fill in the lettering of a debossed band with colored ink, giving a brighter visual message that really stands out. These have even been used by unemployed workers to advertise their availability for a job.

Embossed wristbands reverse the direction of the lettering, raising it to stand above the surface of the wristband. This also creates a more visible text message than just the standard debossed band.

Silk screened custom wristbands take a different approach. They use the same material as the embossed and debossed bands, but instead of imprinting a message into the band, the silk screened bands print a full-color message right onto the flat surface of the wristbands. These are excellent for business promotional messages. While silk screened bands can reproduce bright colors and much greater detail for fonts and logos, they won’t be as durable as the debossed or embossed designs.

Segmented wristbands add more than one color to the wristband itself. The colors are block-style, with no overlap. These are great for team colors.

If you’re the adventurous type, and you want a wristband that really stands out, take a walk on the wild side and go with swirled silicone wristbands. These mix colors in ways that produce a unique appearance, one that can best be described as funky.

With all the options available in terms of color and printing styles it’s not hard to find a custom silicone wristband to fit just about any purpose you can imagine. April Events Calendar

April showers bring many events worth celebrating in 2010, and custom silicone wristbands are a great way to celebrate many worthy causes!

April Fool’s Day kicks off the month, a day for general foolishness of all kinds. But there are also plenty of serious things to commemorate in April.

Lots of things are up in the air this month. The first week is dedicated to the study of the stars as Astronomy Week. April 12 marks the first flight of the space shuttle Columbia in 1981. April 16 marks the birth of flight pioneer Wilbur Wright, born in 1867. April 25 is the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope. Why not mark those all those events with a wristband imprinted with the words “Look to the Stars”?

April’s a busy month for remembering scientists and scientific discoveries of all kinds. On April 20, 1902, Marie and Pierre Curie isolated radium for the first time in history. What better commemorative could there be than a glow-in-the-dark wristband?

World Health Day is April 7. The World Health Organization is focusing this year on making cities healthier. Silicone wristbands are a terrific way to increase awareness for health-related causes.

Seismologist Charles Richter was born on April 26. Artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci was born April 15, 1452. The zipper was patented on April 29, 1913. The whole U.S. Patent system was established on April 17, 1790.

Presidents also left their mark on April. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743. James Monroe was born April 28, 1758. And George Washington was inaugurated on April 30, 1789.

April’s rich in other historical events too. The U.S. Revolutionary War began on April 19, 1775. Confederate leader Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865. And the Library of Congress was established on April 24, 1800. President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law on April 11, 1964. Why not commemorate all the history of April with custom wristbands?

Libraries and reading are major players in April. The second week of the month is National Library Week, and the whole month is both National Turn Off the TV and Read Month AND National School Library Media Month. Remember, silicone wristbands are a fun way to encourage young scholars to read!

Last but not least, April includes signifcant environmental events, including Earth Day, celebrated April 22, and Arbor Day, celebrated April 30. Other environmentally significant events in the month include World Penguin Day on the 25th, and the anniversary of the completion of the Louisiana Purchase on the 30th. Custom wristbands can be a daily reminder of historic events and the need to think “green” in today’s world.

Regardless of what you want to commemorate in April, The Wristband Factory is your one source for any custom wristband design. Give us a call TOLL FREE at 1-866-460-9411 or email us at bands@the-wristband-factory.com to let us show you how we can make your April a month to remember!

Wristbands for Haiti Relief - 1-27-10

The tragedy of the earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010 is beyond comprehension. With more than 100,000 people dead, and hundreds of thousands more homeless, the toll in human suffering is unimaginable. In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, citizens of other countries rushed to help Haitians any way they could. The American Red Cross raised more than $22 million in the first few days afterward, just from donations pledged through cell phone text messages. Around the world, people came together to help their Haitian brethren.

Many people want to help in a tangible way, but are unable to travel to Haiti to join relief efforts there. Individuals are pooling their contributions to multiply the impact of their individual donations. One popular way to raise both funds for Haitian relief and to help keep awareness of the ongoing crisis in the forefront of public consciousness is through the sale of Haiti-related silicone wristbands.

Obviously, no one is claiming that selling silicone wristbands will generate enough funds to rebuild Haiti. The need is too great, the devastation too severe. But consider this: Wristbands have one of the highest per-unit profit margins of any common fundraising item. You, or your organization, can make a significant contribution that WILL help Haitians in need.

For example, 500 basic debossed wristbands, with your message of support for Haiti pressed into the silicone, will cost $0.27 each, for a total of $135. Sell those wristbands for $2 each, and you’ll net $865 to donate to the relief charity of your choice. Sell them for $5 each, and you can donate $2,365. And here’s the trick: your cost goes down as the order quantity goes up. Order 5,000 debossed silicone wristbands and they’re only $0.15 each, for a total of $750. Sell them on campus or through your church at $2 each, and you net $9,250 for Haitian relief. Sell them for $5 each, and your donation soars to $24,250!

And every wristband you sell will serve as a reminder to others of the help Haiti so desperately needs. Your silicone wristbands will help keep people aware of the ongoing emergency as the earthquake and its aftermath gradually fades from the daily news broadcasts and blogs. The need won’t stop when the pictures go away. Neither should the help. You can help make sure it doesn’t.

At The Wristband Factory, we will work with you to design your Haiti relief wristband, and help you get the most “bang for the buck.” Call us TOLL FREE at 1-866-460-9411, or email us at Bands@The-Wristband-Factory.com today and we’ll get started together.
